Gilbert GoGottfried 67 has passed according to family. His family posted a statement to the comedians Twitter account.
"We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness" a family member wrote.
According to NBC News, "Gottfried died at 2:35pm ET Tuesday from Recurrent Ventricular Tachycardia due to Myotonic Dystrophy type II. Myotonid Dystrophy type II is an inherited disorder that causes muscular dystrophy. It affects the muscles, heart, and other body organs. It is characterized by muscle weakness, pain, and stiffness. ARVD can cause sudden death.
