Jennifer Lopez is thankful for the growth she's experienced in the wake of her divorce from Ben Affleck.

The "Let's Get Loud" singer made rare comments about her split from her ex-husband in a new interview for CBS News' Sunday Morning, calling it "the best thing that ever happened to me" because it helped her grow into the person she needed to be, per Page Six.

"It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow [and] become more self-aware," she said, adding, "I'm a different person than I was last year, a year and a half ago."

Lopez explained how filming her upcoming movie Kiss of the Spider Woman amid marriage woes and challenges in her personal life gave her a sense of "refuge."

"It was a really tough time. Every moment on set, every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy, and then it was like, back home, it was not great," she said. "And it was just like, oh, you know, how do I reconcile this?"

Now, on the other side of her divorce, she said she is in a "good place" and feeling less pressure as she learns to have fun and "enjoy things more," saying, "I realized that the joy is in living and these moments and really embracing life and everything it brings to you."

Lopez filed for divorce from the Good Will Hunting actor in August 2024 on the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding, citing irreconcilable differences. They finalized their divorce in January and are said to be on "friendly terms." Earlier this year, Affleck shared his own comments on his split from the "On the Floor" musician.
